Actress Emma Stone revealed in an interview appearing in the latest issue of Vogue magazine that she has panic attacks since she was 8 years old. “The Help” star says that even though her parents put her in therapy, it was something else that made the difference.
Emma Stone is a great actress and a beautiful woman. It may seem that lack of self-confidence should not be in the cards for her. However, in the latest issue of Vogue, she reveals that anxiety has played a big part in her life and, up to one point, it still does.
Stone is suffering from panic attacks since the age of eight. She recalls that the first time she experienced it, it was mortifying. “I was just kind of immobilized by it”, she says, adding that, as a result, she became very reclusive, avoiding the other kids her age. “I didn’t want to go to my friends’ houses or hang out with anybody, and nobody really understood”.
But one day, she found something that made her regain balance. Her parents talked to a therapist for her and she went in for treatment, but it was acting that really made the difference. “It gave me a sense of purpose”, Stone explains. So she started taking acting lessons at the age of 11. “Comedy was my sport. It taught me how to roll with the punches.
Even though the panic attacks haven’t’ completely stopped, “The Amazing Spiderman” actress says she has come up with ways of keeping them under control. Thus, one of her new hobbies is baking.
