As October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, here is a part of the great number of celebrities – singers, actresses, TV personalities and more – who beat breast cancer.
Christina Applegate. The “Married With Children” star was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. She underwent a double mastectomy and now, not only is she cancer-free, but she became an inspiration for women all over the US, creating the Right Action For Women Foundation. When talking about her fight with cancer, she says the secret was staying in a good mood. “Laughter is so healing … I think that it frees up your body to heal, too.”
Robin Roberts. The TV anchor was diagnosed in 2007, when she was covering a story on early detection of breast cancer. It was caught early and as treated immediately. However, a month ago, the “Good Morning America” host underwent bone marrow transplant, for MDS(myelodysplastic syndrome), which was an effect of the breast cancer appeared five years ago.
Sheryl Crow. After her own battle with breast cancer, the singer opened the Sheryl Crow Imaging Center, in Los Angeles, a type of digital art screening which is used in detecting cancer in the earliest stages.
Giuliana Rancic. The E! News host discovered she had breast cancer last year, when she was advised by her physician to do a routine checkup before the third IVF. Last fall, Giuliana announced she would be undergoing a lumpectomy, but in the end, she opted for a double mastectomy. Due to the chemo treatment, which made it impossible for her to get pregnant in the next five years, she and husband Bill Rancic opted for a carrier mother. They became parents for the first time earlier this year.
