Red lipstick, disgraceful after age 59, study says
According to the Nurture Replenish Skincare survey, red lipstick is disgraceful after the age of 59. Moreover, results showed that women over 45 years old consider 59 is the appropriate age to stir away not only from wearing red lipstick, but also from high heels and tight clothes. The UK beauty product company’s poll showed that, after turning 59, women should focus more on having a more natural look.
The spokeswoman for Natural Replenish Skincare stated that the studies the company runs usually yield unexpected results. “We think middle aged is supposed to be later, but women are saying that in the early 40s a lot of things need to be toned down,” she added.
According to the respondents feedback, women over 40 should stay clear from wearing baseball caps, miniskirts, leather pants and apply a fake tan. Knee-high boots and tight tops, including the conservative ones, should be off the shelves once a woman turns 45 and tattoos should be removed once a woman hits 55.
The women surveyed came to a consensus when talking about the way they looked and felt, saying they felt beautiful at any age, with almost 3 quarters of them stating they are ready to let the aging process progress on its own without resorting to extreme anti-aging measures. Only 25 percent of the women who took part in the poll said they would consider cosmetic surgery to preserve their looks.
A third of the women questioned seemed worried some items in their wardrobe ceased to be age-appropriate, with 80 percent convinced they needed to abandon their “younger” style for a more toned down one. 1 in 10 respondents said that heavy eyeliner becomes harder to wear past age 50.
