Kathy Griffin is the new Fashion Police hostComedienne Kathy Griffin is the new “Fashion Police” host, the Associated Press reports. The 54-year-old Grammy-winner will replace the late Joan Rivers starting January 2015.

E! announced on Monday that the iconic show “Fashion Police” will have a new host starting January. Comedy actress Kathy Griffin will join the celebrity fashion critics and she’ll be at the control panel. “You celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners”, Griffin warned.

The entertainment network’s Executive Vice President, Jeff Olde, announced the new “Fashion Police” host, explaining the choice was almost natural, as Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers were good friends and shared the same “tell-it-like-it-is personality”. Griffin would “no doubt continue her legacy and do the series justice by bringing her own unique comic style to the host chair”, Olde said.

Melissa Rivers, the daughter of Joan Rivers and executive producer of the show, believes Kathy “just feels right” for “the next incarnation” of the series that “my mother so adored”.

The new series of “Fashion Police” will premiere on January 12, reprising its weekly airing. Throughout 2015, it will feature 17 special episodes that focus on high-profile red carpet and fashion events, starting with the Golden Globes.

Griffin will be joined by the old gang – Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and Brad Goreski.

Since 81-year-old River’s hospitalization, which tragically ended up in her passing, in September, “Fashion Police” has stopped airing.
