Actor Ben Affleck gets candid in front of the camera about co-parenting with ex-wife Jennifer Garner after their split, over a year ago. The 44-year-old “Accountant” star shares what he is best at and what he wouldn’t want to be caught up doing with his kids in a recent interview for Entertainment Tonight.
“We do our best”, Ben Affleck tells the ET interviewer, when asked about co-parenting with his estranged wife, Jennifer Garner. During the interview, taken at the premiere of his new movie, The Accountant, in Los Angeles, the Hollywood actor admits that he is far from being an expert when it comes to parenting, calling his areas of expertise in the domain “spotty at best.”
And when it comes to the thing he is worst at with his kids, he says it is homework. “I only play an accountant in the movie. In real life, I’m badly wanting.”

In a different interview, Affleck says he wouldn’t want his children to become actors. A child actor himself, he says that he did take his kids to his work place, on the set, and that they enjoyed it – mostly because they would get sweets – but that he did not talk to them about his experience with acting when he was a child. “I don’t want them getting any ideas about…you know…uhm doing it themselves.”
Just before entering his teenage years, Ben Affleck was in the educational series The Voyage of the Mimi, airing on PBS in 1984. He was 12-years-old. Four years later, he appeared on the sequel, The Second Voyage of the Mimi.

Ben Affleck is not the only one who gets candid about co-parenting after the split. In late September, Jennifer Garner, also 44, spoke on Today Parents about her parenting values. She started by saying that “parenting is about time.” Then she opened up about her “modern family” status and the friendship that she and Ben still have. During the shooting of Affleck’s new movie in London, Jennifer took the kids to visit their father on the set. When the reporter called “really admirable” the way she and Affleck have managed to be a team for the benefit of the children, Garner responded: “It has to be like that. You don’t have a choice.”
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner still live under the same roof, even though they separated over a year ago. They co-parent their three children Violet, 10, Seraphina Rose, 7, and Samuel, 4.
