Nick Cannon announced via Instagram that he will be in hospital until after Christmas. The America’s Got Talent show host has checked in for a few days now, but said he will be “back to normal” before the beginning of next year.

Nick Cannon has lupus nephritis, a form of lupus that attacks the kidneys.

Yesterday, Nick Cannon posted on Instagram news that were concerning for his followers. The photo uploaded shows IV and heart monitoring equipment stuck on Cannon’s chest and arms, in a hospital room.

“For all who have been trying to contact me the last few days this is where I’ve been”, the 36-year-old TV personality wrote. “And I will be in the Hospital through Christmas. All good though, Doctors say I will be back to normal before the New Year. #LupusSucks #ncredible #warrior”.

Cannon, who is admitted at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, has first opened-up about his lupus nephritis diagnosis back in 2012. He has been in the hospital several times since then because of the disease and every time he has been opened about it, in hopes of educating about the autoimmune disease. “I want to continue to educate,” said the father of three in April 2014 to HuffPost, explaining that his purpose is to show others that they can live with this illness “as long as you live right”. He added: “I always say I’ve changed my test into a testimony.”

Right before being hospitalized, Nick Cannon had the idea to pay a visit to the kids at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles alongside civil rights activist, writer and social critic Dick Gregory. Cannon has confirmed last month that he is expecting his third baby with ex-girlfriend, beauty pageant queen Brittany Bell.

He has twins Moroccan and Monroe, 8, from his marriage to music diva Mariah Carey. Their divorce was finalized in November.
