Betty White on how to age gracefully
Actress Betty White is celebrating her 95th birthday today, January 17. The actress, who became famous for her role on The Golden Girls more than 3 decades ago, has kept her bald larger than life personality and knows a thing or two on how to age gracefully.
The comedienne is known for her young spirit kept intact despite her physical age, which just hit 95 years.
If you are concerned about your personal aging, or are curious on how to age with style, just like this lady of Hollywood, here is a piece of advice from her:
“Make the most of it. So you may not be as fast on your feet, and the image in your mirror may be a little disappointing, but if you are still functioning and not in pain, gratitude should be the name of the game”, says White.
When it comes to living healthy, she is not a champion. The actress admits that her favorite foods are hot dogs and French fries and her exercise routine does not include jogging, yoga or gym workout. Instead, she confesses she does go up and down the stairs a lot because she is forgetful. “My exercise, I have a two-story house and a very bad memory, so I’m up and down those stairs”, she says.
Here is something that hasn’t crossed your mind: old age has some exclusive benefits. White has discovered some: “Past a certain age, you can get away with murder. You can do anything and people will say, ‘Well, the poor old soul, she’s… you know…”. She also adds that as she got older, people started being more respectful and spoiled her more because she was considered old. “Little do they know, you haven’t changed”.
But from all the advice she has to give how to age gracefully, this one is probably her best:
“Don’t try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff”.
Happy Birthday, Betty White!
