Gwen Stefani is the new face of Revlon. The singer joins Ciara, Olivia Wilde and Halle Berry as the cosmetic company’s global ambassador.
The lead singer of the rock band No Doubt has landed a new job in the beauty industry. It should be unsurprising for those who know that Stefani, before debuting her music career, before being a star of The Voice, she used to be a make-up artist in California.
Revlon has announced on social media that The Sweet Escape singer will be their new Global Ambassador. “Starting 2017 with a whole lot of love—and an announcement you don’t want to miss. ❤️✨?#RevlonXGwen #ChooseLove @gwenstefani”, they captioned the video on Instagram.
As we mentioned, Gwen Stefani is no stranger to make-up. But she was self-taught, she reveals to WWD. “I was a makeup artist when I was in my early twenties at the mall, they never trained me”. She remembers working “behind the counter for Borghese, which nobody bought because it was expensive”. But she started asking customers to let her do their makeup. “I just remember making people feel so much joy and so inspired and so full of confidence, and that’s what makeup can do.”
In September 2015, 47-year-old Stefani partnered with Urban Decay and launched a makeup collection including lipstick, eyeshadow, blush and eyebrow products. The collection bears her name and can be seen/bought here.
Revlon is not the first company to believe Gwen Stefani’s iconic look – cat eyes, red lipstick, platinum blonde hair – is the perfect association with the idea of beauty. In 2011, she became the face of L’Oreal Paris. “I can’t believe I get to be one of the L’Oréal Paris girls”, she said at the time Stefani, who thinks of herself as “a lucky, lucky girl.”
There is NO DOUBT she Revlon picked the right girl for the job!
