Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling responds on Twitter to fans who threatened that they will burn her books – some say have already burned them. The British writer had to deal with angry feedback from fans who disagreed with her opinions on Donald Trump.

J.K. Rowling: “Guess it’s true what they say: you can lead a girl to books about the rise and fall of an autocrat, but you still can’t make her think.”

Another celebrity that is not fond of the former Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice host is British author J.K. Rowling. After expressing her anti-Donald Trump view, the 51-year-old faced harsh criticism from a number of fans who sympathize with the U.S. President and were disturbed by her opinions.

“@Jk_rowling glad I caught this article on yahoo. I will now burn your books and movies too”, one former fan tweeted, while another wrote she just burned the copies of Harry Potter she has had in the house for 17 years and adds that she was “upset”, that she would never read Rowling’s books again and that she was embarrassed and disgusted by the author.

Rowling tweeted in response: “Guess it’s true what they say: you can lead a girl to books about the rise and fall of an autocrat, but you still can’t make her think.”

Later, Harry Potter’s mom wrote: “I’d just like to thank everyone sending me lovely messages, which greatly outnumber the bad ones ? I’m now off to produce more kindling…”

The trolling did not stop here. Hours ago, another follower wrote a nasty message to her, telling her, in a few more words, to “keep her nose in the UK”. She replied.

All that back and forth with trolls on Twitter must have had an bad emotional impact on Rowling, who has pinned a tweet from Rogue NASA meant to bring a smile on the face of those who feel “overwhelmed and anxious today”. The writer captioned it: “That genuinely helped. Thank you!”
