Amanda Seyfried, legal action over leaked photos
Actress Amanda Seyfried was confronted with the leak of nude photos of herself which were published without her permission, on Wednesday. As a result, the 31-year-old decided to take legal action against those who leaked the photos online.
Several photos of actress Amanda Seyfried were posted online on Wednesday, by a website called Celeb Jihad. The photos show the Big Love actress “in various degrees of nudity” as her attorney confirms. Moreover, some of the photos show her getting intimate with her boyfriend at the time, Justin Long.
Seyfried’s attorney issued a cease-and-desist letter to the website. The document states that “very private photographs of Ms. Seyfried, either in various states of nudity or in intimate moments with her former boyfriend, have been reproduced and posted”. It also states that the private photos have been leaked, “wrongfully obtained by a third party or parties without Ms. Seyfried’s knowledge or consent” and asks for the photos to be taken down immediately.
If not, Seyfried’s legal team warned it will take “any and all appropriate steps to enforce the client’s rights”. They are seeking exemplary compensatory damages, injunctive relief, revenues obtained by the website from the publishing of the photos and attorney’s fees.
In addition, the letter asks for the preservation of all evidence regarding the means the website has come into possession of the photo, in hopes of tracking down the responsible for the leakage.
Seyfried dated Alvin and the Chipmunks actor Justin Long from 2013 to 2015.
Last year, she began dating 40-year-old actor Thomas Sadoski, whom she co-starred on The Last Word. They got engaged later the same year and in November, the two announced they were expecting their first child.
Seyfried’s nude photo leak comes just days after Beauty and the Beast star Emma Watson faced a similar situation. Even though her photos were not nude, they were still the actress’ private captions. She has taken legal action, as well.
