Actor Jim Tavaré reunites with his dog in an emotional video, after a car crash that left him for two weeks in intensive care. The dog was in the car with him at the moment of the accident.
Happy Potter actor Jim Tavaré was in a serious car crash on March 7. The 53-year-old actor was rushed to the ICU, with a punctured lung, a broken neck, 15 broken ribs and multiple fractures in his right leg. He had surgery and spent almost two weeks in the intensive care unit.
What was not known at the time was that the actor was in the car with his four-legged buddy, 2-year-old Mr. Kippy. Amazingly, the dog suffered no injury. But he did miss his owner.
Upon release from the hospital, Tavaré was reunited with Mr. Kippy, in an emotional moment, caught on camera.
“That dog is my best friend”, the actor says, while being transported in a wheelchair, outside of the hospital. Meeting his dog for the first time in two weeks had the actor in tears.
On March 12, Jim’s wife Laura, who was the first to report the accident, on his Facebook page, came with updates on the actor’s health state:
She began by thanking everyone for their messages of support during the “traumatic time”. “It means so much to know you’re out there routing for his recovery”, she added, sharing that he was still in intensive care but that he was making progress. “Hopefully it won’t be long before he can make his own status updates again.”
Jim Tavaré is mostly known for playing the character of Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He also appeared on the BAFTA-winning UK television comedy programme The Sketch Show.
