Patricia Krentcil, an eccentric mom from New Jersey, was arrested for taking her 5-year old daughter to a tanning salon. The woman was charged with second-degree child endangerment, ABC reports.
New Jersey is famous for all the glamming, tanning and the overall pageant girl-look. But when do you draw the line and say “enough is enough”? A fancy mom thought she could push the limit. She thought her 5-year-old could use some tanning to “upgrade” her look. Patricia Krentcil took little Anna with her to the tanning salon.
After that, while at school, Anna started complaining about a rash and was taken to the school’s nurse. The girl told her she got it after going tanning with her mother and the nurse immediately alerted the social services and the police.
Anna’s mother declines the accusations, saying she would never take her daughter to the tanning salon. She explains the sunburn as the result of staying too much outside, gardening, during the past weekend.
Prosecutors believe the salon employees had no knowledge of the incident and that the mother sneaked Anna into the tanning booth.
Patricia Krentcil has paid a 25,000 dollar bail and has been released from police custody. She is facing second-degree child endangerment charges.
Little Anna is now in her father’s custody.
