On Monday, Nadya Suleman, also known as “Octomom”, said in a statement that from all the difficult decisions she had to make these past months, filing for bankruptcy was the hardest . On Friday, the mother of 14 kids claimed Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
“I have had to make some very difficult decisions this year and filing Chapter 7 was one of them”, Nadya Suleman said on Monday. The 36-year-old mother of 14 children has debts over one million dollars. According to the court papers, her assets were roughly reaching 50,000 dollars. The list of creditors is large and it includes, along with the gas, electricity and water companies, Indy Mac Mortgage, Orkin Pest Control, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Verizon Wireless and Sparkletts.
Suleman also owes almost half a million dollars to Amir Haddadin, the man who loaned her the money to buy the house she currently lives in. Haddadin spoke to RadarOnline about his hopes of getting his money back. He said the auction set for the home has been delayed a few days due to the bankruptcy claim, so it will take place on May 7. “This is not surprising … and now the bank will have to deal with it”, he said. Despite his situation, the man still feels sorry for Suleman’s kids. “They aren’t animals. Does Nadya realize that? Truly, what kind of life can these children have with her as a mother?”
Nadya Suleman, 36, is sick and tired of being bullied out of the neighborhood she lives in and cannot wait to move. In the past weeks, she has had her car vandalized and was reported to the police and the Child Services for neglecting her kids.
“I have to do what is best for my children and I need a fresh start”, Suleman concluded.
