The latest issue of Self magazine features a sunny smiling Demi Lovato on its cover, who is willing to talk about her troubles in the past years, involving bipolar disorder, bulimia and cutting herself, without fear. The singer says she is now in a stronger place.
It didn’t take long since the announcing of the new “X Factor” judges for the rumors to appear. And most of them involve Demi Lovato and Britney Spears jumping at each other’s throats. But in a recent interview to Self magazine, the former “Sonny With a Chance” star reveals that, in reality, their relationship is great.
Britney Spears is “a sweet girl”, according to Lovato, who also believes that they share a connection, as they both went through some very public struggles.
Talking about her own problems, Demi tried to explain how she felt before rehab, last year. “There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin, that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode”, the singer revealed about her bipolar struggle. “I cut myself to take my mind off that. I just didn’t care what happened,” she added. But now, she feels she is “in a stronger place”
As for her post-rehab life, Lovato says that exercise and meditation help her maintain not only her physique, but also her focus. Some days she runs, other days she goes biking, and sometimes she does “full-out meditations, where I chant with my instructor. It helps me connect to how I’m feeling”.
