Lark Voorhier, best known to us as Lisa Turtle from the early 90s sitcom “Saved by the Bell”, is suffering from bipolar disorder. According to her mother, she needs to seek help for the condition, but the actress believes the doctors don’t really know what she has and can’t treat her.
Later on, in a series of interviews with People magazine, she reportedly stopped in the middle of the sentence just staring off, or mumbling to herself. Her mother, Tricia, 64, says that Lark has been suffering from bipolar disorder for a while now. And when opening up about her daughter, worried that she might not get the help she needs, she mentions that there has been trauma in the actresses’ life. “There are things that have traumatized her”, Tricia says, indicating that she was referring to Lark’s divorce from Miguel Coleman, back in 2001.
The mother is resuming her concern by saying she cares deeply about her daughter and wishes that she would get her life back.
Voorhies, now 38 year old and living with her mother in Pasadena, California, denies using drugs and doesn’t understand why her mother worries so much. Her condition – she never admitted to having a diagnosis of bipolar disorder – is impossible to treat, in her opinion. According to Radar Online, the actress has been resistant to psychiatric treatment because she thinks the doctors don’t know how to deal with what she has. “They can’t explain it. They can’t treat in. They don’t know about it.”
As for the bizarre behavior during the interviews with People, Lark says that it was like “carrying on the interview in a hurricane. We’re alive in a major time of all-in-all prophecy … you caught me in moments of pray … I have a strong spiritual sense.”
