“Star Wars Episode 7” is set to premiere in 2015, as announced by the new owners of the Star Wars franchise, the Walt Disney Company.
2015 is set to be a very eventful one for the House of Mouse company as they are scheduled to release a sequel of the popular “Avengers” along side the brand new Star Wars. The company announced the acquisition of Lucasfilm Ltd., the production company previously owning the rights for the Star Wars series, on Tuesday, October 30th. The $4.05 billion ‘purchase’ has already yielded its first project in the shape and form of the 7th part of the notorious light sabers series.
In a recent statement released by Disney, Lucas talked about having his concept passed on to another company and showed how he wanted to be involved in the transition process. As he always expected the movie to live past his lifetime, he wanted to insure it will continue to be passed from generation to generation. “I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come”, he added.
Disney has a well in the making plan for the future of the Star Wars saga. Even though very little is know about the 7th episode aside the scheduled year of its release, the company made clear their intention of having one part out every two to three years and already have started the designs for the episodes 8th and 9th.
