This year’s Chipotle Halloween discounts were a hit. The customers who stopped by the Chipotle counter during this year’s spooky day were offered the opportunity of having a burrito, a burrito bowl, a salad or some tacos for only $2. The only requirement: show up wearing a Halloween costume.
There was no limit set for a certain number of items available for purchase, however the sale started at 4 p.m. and lasted till closing time on Wednesday. Anyone passing by wearing a costume was eligible for the seasonal treat. This Halloween special was available at all Chipotle locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
All revenue (up to $1 million) obtained was donated to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. According to Examiner.com, Chipotle’s non-profit organization aims to create a more sustainable and healthy food supply as well as to increase awareness regarding food issues. In the past couple of years, the Mexican restaurant invested over $2 million in activities solely dedicated to the development of sustainable agriculture, family farming and culinary education.
The special Halloween burrito offer was not the only treat Chipotle had in store for their customers. Till November 2nd, all photos taken in front of a Chipotle location wearing a Halloween costume can be submitted for a chance to win the Costume Contest. The first prize is worth $2,500. The 5 runner up winners will receive $1,000 each and the 20 runner-runner ups a party for ten at a Chipotle location of their choice.
