Jennifer Lopez denied any action on her part that might have concluded in getting a maid fired for asking for an autograph. Lopez lashed out against tabloid reports who claimed the cleaning lady got fired for merely requesting an autograph from the Latin superstar. Lopez dismissed the story as untrue and “hurtful”.
Praj Dodaj, the fired maid, told the German newspaper “Bild”, in a recent interview, that she lost her job for the Melia Dusseldorf after stopping by the star’s room looking for her signature. She considers herself a huge fan of Lopez’s work so she decided to gather all her courage and go knock on the door. Allegedly she got turned away by the star’s assistants. “A day later the cleaning company that employed me at the hotel called and said that Ms. Lopez had complained,” Dodaj commented for the German publication. “I was fired right there on the phone. Because of an autograph.”
However, Lopez, who herself impersonated a hotel housekeeper in 2002 for the romantic comedy “Maid in Manhattan”, strongly denied such accusations. The former “American Idol” judge tweeted on Wednesday morning: “C’mon, thought you knew me better than this! Would never get anyone fired over an autograph.” Furthermore, the 43-year-old actress and singer claims to have first heard about the incident on Twitter.
Cyrus Heydarian, the hotel director of Melia Dusseldorf, deemed Dodaj’s behavior as inappropriate. “She has acted contrary to the contractual arrangements and disturbed the privacy of our guests”, he told TMZ regarding the maid in question.
Dusseldorf was one stop on the world tour Lopez is on at the moment. Future concerts will take place in Finland, Turkey, China, Australia and Puerto Rico.
