Actress Nicole Kidman looked like the embodiment of Audrey Hepburn at the Derby Day this year, where she wore a huge hat that seemed taken from a “My Fair Lady” film set. The annual race took place in Australia, on November 3rd at the Flemmington race track, inquisitr.com reported.
The movie icon wore a black and white figure fitting lace dress designed by L’Wren Scott and the headpiece signed by milliner Stephen Jones. Kidman herself admitted that her outfit was supposed to pay tribute to Audrey Hepburn and “My Fair Lady”, a fun movie perfectly suited for such a fun event. In her own words: “It’s one of my favorite movies. We decided to do something that was fun and a bit different.”
Nicole was accompanied to the annual race by her parents. She said she wished Keith Urban had attended the event along side her as well, but he was otherwise occupied, namely busy with his Country Music Association Awards and taking their kids trick-or-treating. Kidman, however, could not have missed the Derby Day since betting during the race is a tradition she kept true to ever since she become of legal age.
Currently, the Academy Award winner is filming for “Grace of Monaco” in France where she plays none other than Grace Kelly. As such, her trip to Australia for the Derby Day was a very short one. Kidman spent about three hours in the Swisse marquee of the Flemmington race track Birdcage enclosure, placing a couple of bets and mingling. The actress was at home for only two days before having to head back to the set.
