Actor Jason Momoa got the part of Aquaman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. In the movie, directed by Zack Snyder, the superhero will control waters, as expected, but not only!
Jason Momoa is probably best known to you from his role as Khal Drogo in the HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones”. But recently, he’s known a push up on the ladder of popularity, by being given the part of the superhero Aquaman in 2016’s “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”. The “Superman” sequel’s cast includes Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Momoa’s character has not only the ability to manipulate water, but also has super-speed and super-strength.
Aquaman’s real name is Arthur Curry and has made his first appearance in 1941 in the 73th issue of More Fun Comics. In the 1960’s he was a founding member of the Justice League of America, along with, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter. In the 1990’s he was depicted as the King of Atlantis. In the 2000s his reputation declined slowly, being perceived as less impressive than the other Justice League members.
The highly anticipated “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”, set to premiere in 2016, will definitely restore Aquaman’s credibility and popularity.
The news casting Momoa fueled the rumors around another film with superheroes: “Justice League”. The movie is directed by the same Snyder and keeps the same cast as “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
