FOX has confirmed, through Chairman and CEO Gary Newman, that the new season of Prison Break will bring back both brothers. Fans were let to believe that Michael Schofield has died in the last season, which was thought to be the final one, up until now.

Prison Break new season will bring back both brothers

On Thursday, FOX Chairman Gary Newman confirmed the rumors that first sparked in the summer of last year, those of a new Prison Break season. This can’t but drive the fans ecstatic, since the audience has been asking and hoping for another season of the action drama from the moment the last episode ran, in 2009.

The best twist was Schofield’s coming to live, somehow, in the upcoming season. „We all, who watched the show and loved it, thought that Michael had died” said Newman, adding: „ Paul Scheuring came in with a great twist, that explains that he didn’t die and what he’s been doing in the interim,”which clearly confirms that we should expect a Prison Break-like story.

Prison Break is coming back with a 10-episode season. Filming starts in spring. Series star Wentworth Miller said that the series is „taking its cue from Legends, which is the priority”. Miller and Purcell, the main characters in Prison Break, are starring together on the series Legends Of Tomorrow.

FOX CEO Dana Walden describes the upcoming season as „a bit of a sequel” explaining that „it picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show” and along with the two brothers, other characters will be back. However, their names haven’t been given yet.

Prison Break , which was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in 2005, the year it first aired, was t turned down by Fox in the beginning, due to some concerns about the length of the series. The first season was originally planned for a 13-episode run, but seeing the rise in popularity, it was extended twenty-two episodes.

The popularity of the series inspired several short videos for mobile phones, an official magazine, a tie-in novel and a video game.

The upcoming Prison Break season is expected to air in late 2016, or early 2017.
