Actress Emma Watson revealed that she doesn’t want to take photos with fans and the reason why she won’t is because of safety reasons. However, there is one category of fans that she doesn’t refuse.
Harry Potter star Emma Watson recently sat down with Vanity Fair UK, for their March cover story, with the occasion of her latest movie, Beauty and the Beast.
The actress reveals, at one point during the interview, that she agrees to take snapshots with fans very rarely. And she explains why:
“If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters”. She ads that at that point several information about her are out there, like, for example, what she is wearing and who is with her. “I just can’t give that tracking data”, Watson continues.
But before booing her, know that she is willing to give autographs and make some chit chat. “I’ll say, ‘I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just can’t do a picture.’”
And when it comes to photos, she does bend the rules in some cases. “Children I don’t say no to, for example.”
Of the Harry Potter fans, Watson explains that they are not just a crown of people who are fans of the books or of the movies cast. It crosses the border into a different zone. “I have met fans that have my face tattooed on their body. I’ve met people who used the Harry Potter books to get through cancer”, says the actress, who was cast as Hermione at the age of 10. She continued: “It crosses into obsession. A big part of me coming to terms with it was accepting that this is not your average circumstances”.
