Angelina Jolie – back in 2010, the Hollywood beauty was talking to The Daily Mail about the reasons she engaged in self-harm. “I used to cut myself or jump out of airplanes, trying to find something new to push up against because sometimes everything else felt too easy”, she told the media outlet, adding that she was in search for “something deeper” after she had “tried everything”. She added: “I went through a period when I felt my film characters were having more fun than I was. “It might partly explain why I ended up tattooed or doing certain extreme things in my life.”


Russell Brand – the comedian detailed his teen years, during which he would cut himself frequently, in his memoir My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up. In the book, he writes that cutting himself would calm him down. “I get fixated when I’m bleeding – I can see why they went in for blood-letting in medieval times because it makes you feel a bit better.”


Princess Diana – the Princess of Wales once told NBC that she would hurt herself in order to get the attention of Prince Charles on her personal struggles. “He said I was crying wolf. So I picked up a penknife off his dressing table and I scratched myself heavily and there was a lot of blood.”


Christina Ricci – the actress confessed she would put out cigarettes on her arm to get a “rush” in an interview for Spin Magazine. She also opened-up about her struggle with eating disorders. “It was a horrifying thing to do to a 14-year-old trying to cope with a devastating illness.”, she told Marie Claire in 2012.


Darrell Hammond – the funny guy talked to CNN about his difficult childhood, which caused him to evade in self-harm. He said he first cut himself at the age of 19. “Then over the years it became habitual.”
