Bennington was very close friends with another artist who committed suicide recently: 52-year-old Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell. The musician was found dead in his hotel room, on May 17, in Detroit, after a performance with Soundgarden the day before. Even though at first it was believed that is was a drug overdose, the coroner’s reports excluded that hypothesis, concluding that it was death by hanging.

Following Cornell’s death, Chester Bennington posted an open letter to him on social media.

“I dreamt about the Beatles last night. I woke up with Rocky Raccoon playing in my head and a concerned look on my wife’s face. She told me my friend has just passed away”, he wrote. “Thoughts of you flooded my mind and I wept.” He later wrote: “I can’t imagine my life without you in it.”

In early July, another celebrity committed suicide by hanging herself – YouTube star Stevie Ryan, the ex girlsfriend of actor& musician Drake Bell. Just a few days earlier, her grandfather had passed away. “My dream man who I will only see in my dreams.” But then she added something odd: “I’ll meet you in Percebo, soon”, she was sharing on social media on June 25. She committed suicide on July 1.
