Justin Bieber said he felt “super violated” by the recently leaked photos on Selena’s Instagram. The photos had been first published by the media in 2015, when the two were still in a relationship.
Several media outlets have confirmed Selena’s account had been hacked. Here is what happened:
On Monday, August 28, several nude photos of Justin Bieber started appearing on Selena Gomez’ Instagram. According to Reuters, the “Fetish” singer had her account hacked and was not responsible for sharing those photos.
Following the hack, Selena’s Instagram was taken down and the photos were deleted. Minutes later, it was back up, with the last post dating from two days ago.
A spokesperson for Selena Gomez has yet to comment on the incident.
At the sight of the photos, Justin Bieber reacted saying he felt “super violated”.
These naked photos of Bieber were not new. They were snapped in 2015, when he and Selena were still a couple and were on a vacation to Bora Bora. The photos were first published that year, by the New York Daily News. The publication used the censored version. Shortly after, though, the uncensored version leaked online and went viral.
At the time, Bieber was just as disgusted as he is now: “Like, I feel like I can’t step outside and feel like I can go outside naked”, the pop star confessed in a statement for Access Hollywood. “Like, you should feel comfortable in your own space… especially that far away.”
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez dated on and off from 2011 to 2015. Following their break-up, he gave an interview to Complex magazine, explaining why they had split: “Your full identity can’t be in that person. My identity was in her. Her identity was in me”, Justin told the mag. “When stuff would happen, I would lose my freakin’ mind, and she would lose her mind, and we would fight so hard because we were so invested in each other.”
Recently, Gomez has opened-up about her live post-Justin, which included some months in rehab, new music and a new romance, with singer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, best known as The Weeknd.
Justin Bieber cancelled the remaining of his world tour in early August, explaining he needs some time off to recover from “broken relationships” and become “sustainable”.
The tour cancellation came after several outbursts throughout the year, including bullying a girl fan for wanting to take a photo with him.
