Jimmy Kimmel shared on Twitter an update about his baby son Billy health state. The 3-month-old had open heart surgery just days after birth.

Kimmel’s son Billy was born on April 21. Neither him, nor wife, Molly, were aware, previously, that their baby had a heart problem. After the birth, a nurse noticed there was something wrong – his skin color was too purple. He was diagnosed with tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and underwent open heart surgery at just three-days-old.

Looking back at those moments, Fallon, 49, says he felt like he was in a television movie where something was going way wrong. “There were a lot of people scrambling around. At that point, I knew there was nothing I could do.”. He added that the medical staff was keeping him up to date with everything, but he wanted them to focus less on him and more on the infant. Which they did, very professionally, because he says the surgery went fine and ended much faster than expected.

Jimmy Kimmel was very open about his son’s early misadventure since the beginning, talking about it on his show in April, just after surgery. He shared a photo of Billy hooked-up to a bunch of medical devices and another one post-surgery, where he didn’t have any attached anymore.

Billy and his parents were released from the Cedar Sinai hospital six days after his birth.

Here is the whole story, from Jimmy’s mouth:

Lately, Billy has been doing fine and Jimmy says he’s gotten an interest in ceiling fans. “He likes those a lot. I could get him to pay the same amount for Netflix just to watch ceiling fans.”

Jane, Molly and Billy, in May. Kimmel shared this photo on Twitter and captioned it: “sincere thanks for the outpouring of love & support – Dr. Jane is keeping a close ear on Billy, who is very well – XO”

In late July, Jimmy Kimmel shared a photo of his son smiling, captioning it: “Billy is 3 months old & doing great. Thx for the love & support. Please remind your Congresspeople that every kid deserves the care he got.”

Billy will have to undergo two more surgeries – one when he would be 6-months-old and one in his teens.

Jimmy and Molly are also parents to 3-year-old Jane. He also has two older kids from a previous marriage: daughter Katherine, 26, and son Kevin, 23.
