According to an Associated Press report, the Springsteen on Broadway tickets will be available for purchase today, only through security codes.

People who wanted to see Bruce Springsteen on Broadway can buy the tickets today, starting 10 a.m. However, those hoping to get their hands on the tickets can only do so via a security code, sent through a text message.

The codes are being sent a few hours ahead of the sale. In order to receive a text, people had to have been registered for purchase a few weeks ago. Registration started in early August and ended on August 27.

This sounds like a complicated way to buy tickets for a performance, but Ticketmaster had a good reason. It used Ticketmaster Verified Fan in order to thwart brokers and bots.

The ticket price ranged from $75 to $850.

The show will consist in a solo performance of the rockers’, with spoken interludes. He describes the show as being “just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung.” He adds: “It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work.”

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible”, the 67-year-old told USA Today. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind”, he added.

Springsteen revealed that the Walter Kerr Theatre, where the performances will take place, was the smallest location he concerted in for the last 4 decades – it holds 960 seats.

 

Springsteen on Broadway will have an audience of 960 people per show.

 

The owner of the venue, Jordan Roth stated that Springsteen’s performance would be “a once-in-a lifetime thrill” and described the rocker as “one of our greatest musical storytellers.”

Springsteen on Broadway will premiere on October 3. There will be five shows every week, with the last performance on November 26.
