On Monday evening, Carey Mulligan made her first appearance at a public event after giving birth to her second child. The actress and her husband, musician Marcus Mumford, welcomed their bundle of joy in August.
Great Gatsby star stepped out on Monday, September 11, at the Toronto International Film Festival to attend a cast dinner in support of Mudbound, a historical drama she plays the leading role on.
The 32-year-old donned a romantic navy-blue dress signed Chanel, matched with a Chanel belt, black ankle-strap sandals and a black clutch.
Earlier the same day, the actress took part in a press conference for Mudbound. When asked about how she was doing after the birth, Mulligan answered: “It’s good, thank you!”
Carey Mulligan did not share with the press the baby news at the time of her second baby’s birth, sometime in August.
In fact, the media did not even know she was expecting until three months ago. In June, photographers spotted her and her husband one evening, in London, and she was visibly pregnant.
Carey Mulligan married 30-year-old Mumford & Sons lead singer Marcus Mumford in April 2012, in Somerset, U.K. The two had reconnected on the set of Inside Llewyn Davis, after years of losing touch. They were previously pen pals. Four months after meeting again, they tied the knot.
The couple also shares 2-year-old daughter Evelyn Grace.
Mudbound, a movie based on the novel with the same name by Hilary Jordan, tells the story of a family who is trying to find a new purpose by relocating in Mississippi in the years immediately after the end of World War II. The movie will premiere on Netflix, on November 17.
Carey Mulligan’s upcoming projects includes the drama Wildlife, which will be released in 2018. The movie also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ed Oxenbould, Bill Camp and Zoe Margaret Colletti.
