Singer Billy Joel welcomed his third child on Sunday, October 22. The 68-year-old is now a father of three girls.
Billy Joel’s representative announced on Monday that the singer and his wife, 35-year-old Alexis Roderick, have welcomed their second child together. The baby was born weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces, on Sunday, October 22, at 7:50 in the evening. Her name is Remy Anne.
The representative added that both the mother and the baby daughter “are doing well and everyone is thrilled”.
Billy Joel and Alexis Roderick tied the knot in July 2015, at his estate in Long Island, NY. At the time, she was 8 months pregnant with their first daughter, Della Rose. The couple met in 2009 and have been together ever since.
Roderick is an equestrian and a former executive at the global financial services firm Morgan Stanley.
This is Joel’s fourth marriage. Right before meeting Roderick, Joel announced his separation from his third wife, Extra correspondent and former Bravo TV host Katie Lee. They were married in October 2004 and do not have any children together.
His first marriage was also childless. He married Elizabeth Weber Small, the former wife of his music partner in the short-lived duo Attila. She became his agent. They stayed married from 1973 to 1982.
It is with his second wife, model Christie Brinkley, that Joel had his first child with. His daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, was born in December 1985. The couple divorced in 1994, after 9 years.
Alexa Joel, 31, and her mother, Christie, 63, posed for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue earlier this year, alongside Christie’s second daughter, 18-year-old Sailor. While Sailor has already started a modelling career, as well as her brother Jack, for Alexa, this was as a new experience.
