Bob Weinstein is most like going to fire his brother Harvey from The Weinstein Co. during the board meeting on Tuesday, October. 17.
The Weinstein Co. will have a meeting on Tuesday, October 17, with the board of directors, including Bob Weinstein, with regard to Harvey Weinstein’s future with the company. According to sources speaking to TMZ, Harvey will attend the meeting virtually, on speaker phone – he is getting treatment for sex addition in Arizona.
Harvey Weinstein will have representation in the meeting room through his lawyer, Patty Glaser. Lawyers of The Weinstein Co., O’Melveny and Myers, will also attend.
The discussion will center around if and how Harvey could get fired from the company. Patty Glaser will argue that, as stipulated in her client’s contract, if he “treated someone improperly in violation of the company’s Code of Conduct,” – which also includes sexual harassment – he must pay $250,000 in damages to the company for the first incident, “$750,000 for the third such instance, and $1,000,000 for each additional instance.”
O’Melveny and Myers will sustain that the company’s Code of Conduct does not allow sexual harassment, this being a valid reason for letting an employee go.
TMZ also writes that, since both Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein have heated temperaments, the discussion is bound to escalate into a heated argument. Citing a source, the news website adds: “There is so much crap that will be unearthed in a lawsuit, the company just can’t survive it.” This makes any move from any of the two sides delicate.
Harvey Weinstein has been publicly accused of sexual harassment by dozens of women, more or less famous, in the last 10 days. The list of victims, include names like Mira Sorvino, Rosanna Arquette, Angelina Jolie, Heather Graham, Asia Argento, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow Ashley Judd and more.
