Reports from TMZ and CNN reveal that Harvey Weinstein has made the decision to check himself into a rehab center in Arizona, that treats sex addiction. He has already spent a full 24-hour there.
Weinstein’s representative has confirmed that he was “bound for rehab.”
As reported by TMZ, the 65-year-old was supposed to seek treatment overseas, originally. The destination would have been Switzerland. But for an unknown reason, the plans have changed and “he and his team decided he would get treatment in the United States.”
UPDATE: According to the latest report from TMZ, Weinstein is now in rehab in Scottsdale.
On the way to the airport, he told reporters that he was “not doing OK”, adding: “We all make mistakes.” He also said: “I gotta get help, guys.”
On October 11, exactly one week after the New York Times published the first Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment stories, his wife, Georgina Chapman announced that she was leaving him. “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions”, the 41-year-old Marchesa designer told People. “I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time”, she added.
Even though at first he said that his wife was “standing by him” throughout this scandal, Weinstein later told TMZ that after careful consideration, he encouraged her to take a different decision. “We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart”, he said. “In the end, she made the decision to separate.”
Chapman and Weinstein have been married for 10 years and share daughter India Pearl, 7, and son Dashiell Max, 4.
