Glee actor Mark Salling attempted suicide before the plea bargain in the child porn case. The 35-year-old cut his wrists and entered a panic attack.
Grim details surface in the child porn case of Mark Salling. The Glee star, who was charged in December 2015 with possession of child pornography, tried to take his own life, at one point during the trial.
Mark Salling attempted suicide in the summer of last year. On August 22, as he was in his bedroom, in his Los Angeles home, the actor cut his wrists. Not long after, he got scared of the outcome and screamed for his roommate. The roommate came quickly, only to find Salling in shock, bleeding severely. 911 was called and Salling was rushed to the nearest ER.
Once admitted to the hospital, after treating his wounds, Mark underwent psychiatric evaluation. The report did not come clean, which led the actor to enter a rehab facility for psychological treatment immediately after he was released from the hospital.
Mark Salling has been charged with two counts of child pornography and is awaiting a sentence, after pleading guilty in early October. As a result of the guilty plea, the prosecution sought a lighter sentence, which can be anything from 4 to 7 years in prison. Had he maintained his innocence in the case, he could have gotten up to 20 years behind bars.
With prison time, Salling will also have to register as a sex offender, enter a rehab program, stay away from places frequented by minors, especially children, and pay restitution in the amount of $50,000 to each victim.
50,000 photos of child pornography and child erotica were found on Salling’s computer, when the police made a surprise visit to his home, tipped off by the actor’s former girlfriend.
Mark Salling is best known for his role as Noah Puckerman on the TV series Glee.
