Senator John McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain will co-host The View starting today. The former Fox News anchor will join Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Paula Faris, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin.

ABC’ s The View, now to it’s 21st season, will have a new co-host starting October 9: 32-year-old former Fox News anchor and contributor Meghan McCain.

“I’m honored and proud to be part of such an iconic show with a diverse, smart, strong and interesting group of women” McCain stated, adding that she has been a fan of The View for years and considers the position “a career highlight”.

In addition to hosting the mid-morning show, Meghan will also be a contributor to Good Morning America, This week and other ABC News programs.

Meghan McCain became known for her blog during the 2008 campaign. The blog, called McCain Blogette, documented the campaign trail, but spiced-up the political orientation of the content with fashion, music and pop culture.

One year later, in 2009, she began serving as a contributor for The Daily Beast.

In 2011, she was hired as a contributor by MSNBC.

Between 2013 and 2014, she hosted programs on the digital cable start-up channel Pivot.

In 2015 she became a co-host of the daytime talk-show Outnumbered, airing on Fox News. She left Fox News last month.

Meghan’s father is the famous Arizona Senator John Sidney McCain III, who run for presidency of the United States as a Republican nominee in 2008, against Democrat Barack Obama.

The audience of The View is curious of the interaction between Meghan and the rest of the co-hosts, as it is a known fact they have more liberal views than those that could be expected from a Republican’s daughter.
