Rose McGowan was quick to react to Kevin Spacey’s gay confession. She accused Spacey of “deflecting” the sexual harassment claim made against him by Anthony Rapp.

Actress Rose McGowan was one of the most prominent and active voices speaking against film producer Harvey Weinstein. She was among Weinstein’s victims, alongside a large  – and still increasing -number of celebrities who have been sexually harassed by him: Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, Heather Graham, Mira Sorvino, Eva Green and many others.

Not surprisingly, when she saw the reaction of Kevin Spacey to Anthony Rapp’s sexual harassment story, she lashed out. Over the weekend, Rapp revealed he had an awkward encounter with Spacey when he was only 14 years-old, an encounter which falls under sexual assault.

To it, Spacey, 58, responded that he didn’t remember the incident, he must have been drunk and he offered Rapp his deepest apology. Continuing with the message, which was shared on social media, the actor revealed that he was gay.

“This story encouraged me to address other things about my life”, he writes. “I have loved and had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life and I choose now to live as a gay man”.

Not only did Spacey’s confession not have a positive result, like congrats or encouragements, but most   people thought he picked the worst moment possible.

“Nope to Kevin Spacey’s statement, Nope. There’s no amount of drunk or closeted that excuses or explains away assaulting a 14-year-old child” tweeted Dan Savage.

“Kevin Spacey has just invented something that has never existed before: a bad time to come out”, said Billy Eichner.

“The Kevin Spacey statement is disturbing on so many levels. None more than the fact that he doesn’t deny trying to seduce A 14-YEAR-OLD BOY!”, reacted Andy Lassner

But perhaps the loudest voice condemning Spacey and defending Rapp is actress Rose McGowan.

“Dear fellow media: Keep focus on #AnthonyRapp BE THE VICTIM’S VOICE. Help us level the playing field”, the actress urged.

She continued:

“Bye bye, Spacey goodbye, it’s your turn to cry, that’s why we’ve gotta say goodbye.”
