A photo of Madonna flying economy recently proves the diva is far from being a “Material Girl”, as one of her famous songs says.

Passengers from a flight from London to Lisbon were stunned to share the same air in economy class with one of the most glam celebrities of all times. They could literally not believe their eyes when 59-year-old Madonna took her seat by the window, quietly.

The pop diva was dressed casual, in dark above the ankle jeans, a winter jacket and pink Adidas footwear. She was not wearing any make-up and spent most of her time during the flight checking her phone.

Madonna flying economy is not something you see every day. But the Material Girl singer has proven that glitz and glam and luxury is not a constant must for a celebrity and she is not defined by what she owns – which is not little, as you may have guessed. The singer has a net worth estimated at about $800 million.

Madonna recently changed primary residence from London to Lisbon, Portugal, just a couple of months ago. “The energy of Portugal is so inspiring. I feel very creative and alive here and I look forward to working on my film LOVED and making New Music”, she wrote on Instagram in early September, sharing the news that she was changing the city of residence. “It’s time to conquer the world from a different vantage point!!”

The musician has started working on a film adaptation of the novel The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells, written by Andrew Sean Greer.  She opened-up about the project in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar in January.

Loved – the name of the movie – “touches on a lot of really important topics I’ve always been invested in or championed — fighting for women’s rights, gay rights, civil rights, always fighting for the underdog”, she said, adding: “I’ve created a very unconventional family. I have lovers who are three decades younger than me. This makes people very uncomfortable.”
