Actress Rose McGowan was arrested for drug possession on Tuesday, November 14. She was released on a $5,000 bond.
McGowan, 44, turned herself in on Tuesday, into the Loudoun County Police in Virginia, after a warrant had been issued in her name earlier this year. The warrant resulted from an incident dating back in January, at the Washington Dulles International Airport. The actress left behind some personal belongings – a wallet and a couple of bags – which tested positive for narcotics.
The actress’ move was unexpected, seeing that just last month she alluded that this whole story was a conspiracy meant to discredit her in the Harvey Weinstein case.
“Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSESH*T”, she tweeted on October 30.

However, it is unclear if she knew about the warrant then
After she was released, the actress spoke to the New Yorker on the matter. “The police officers and magistrate were very polite and kind”, she told the publication. She then explained that she had the wallet in her pocket of her backpack and never took it out. Upon arrival, she filed a missing luggage claim and asked for help to recover the wallet, which she had noticed was missing.
As for drug use, she says: “Imagining I’m going into sisterly solidarity, I can think of nothing more opposed to that, energetically, that I would want in my body at that moment.”
Rose McGowan and Harvey Weinstein have first clashed about 20 years ago, at the Sundance Film Festival. No lawsuit was filed then, as the two parties have reached a settlement of $100,000.
The Charmed star is just one of the voices who spoke out against Harvey Weinstein. A large number of women, more or less famous, have alleged that the movie producer lured them into his hotel rooms, made indecent proposals and even raped them.
More recently, one actress, who is keeping her anonymity, has filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein for rape.
