Three days after Naya Rivera was released from police custody, Ryan Dorsey spoke on his wife’s arrest, calling it “a difficult time” for their family.

Dorsey has been the victim of domestic abuse over the weekend, when his wife of one year and a half, Naya Rivera, made headlines for being arrested. She has been charged with domestic battery and reports say that Dorsey suffered injuries to the head (they were minor).

The actor has kept quiet about the incident until Tuesday, when he took to social media to address the issue. He wrote:

“This is a difficult time for everyone in the family, especially Naya and I. This isn’t some reality show, this is our life and I ask that everyone, especially “the media” please respect our privacy and treat us/this situation how you would want a loved one to be treated”. He continued: “Perhaps with kindness, respect, without judgement and as a negative a situation this is, with positivity and love. Thanks”

Naya Rivera appeared in front of a judge for signing the release papers and being presented with the charges on Sunday morning, November 26. She had been arrested on Saturday night, at her home in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Cops were called as a result of a physical altercation which ended in Dorsey being struck in the head. He ended up with a busted lip.

Ryan Dorsey, 34, and Naya Rivera, 30, married in the summer of 2014, after the Glee actress broke her engagement to rapper Big Sean. Their son, Josey, was born in September 2015. The couple separated in September 2016, when Rivera filed divorce papers. She recently withdrew the filing.

Naya’s family are reportedly worried about her, as they say she has been behaving violently before. “This is not the first time that their relationship has been violent, and the fact that she hit her husband and lashed out like that, is very scary to everyone around her”, says a source speaking to E! News.
