Chris Pratt filed for divorce from Anna Faris at the end of last week. The Guardians of the Galaxy star filed the papers on Friday, December 1, ET reports.
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced they were separating in August. At the time, the couple released a joint statement saying that their marriage of 8 years had ended, despite their efforts of holding on to it. “We are sad to announce that we are legally separating”, they said, adding: “We tried hard for a long time and we’re really disappointed”.
Both actors added they were committed to care for their son Jack as a united front, as they have done since the beginning.
Unlike other celebrity couples, fortunately, in their case, there was no legal custody battle or misunderstandings, or tension. On the contrary, the soon-to-be ex-spouses have a more than amicable relationship, acting friendly and being supportive of each during these sensitive times.
“There is still so much laughter in our lives together, and he is so proud of me, still” Anna told People, adding that they have seen each other grow and they still find each other funny.
Moreover, Faris, who not earlier than last year confessed to actress Isla Fisher during an interview that she was afraid Pratt could cheat on her, is now over those fears and moving on with a new man, filmmaker Michael Barrett. In late October, the duo has been spotted having lunch and a month earlier, they were accompanied by Faris’ son, Jake to a carnival.
Faris filed her response to Pratt’s divorce immediately, asking for the same things he was: joint custody of the 5-year-old and the right to receive spousal support.
The papers read the official date of separation was July 13.
