Christina and Tarek El Moussa are officially divorced, People reports. The couple separated in December 2016, after more than seven years of marriage.
Christina and Tarek El Moussa are back to the single status, after their divorce has been recently finalized. The Flip or Flop stars have gone their separate ways, even though they are still raising their children together and are on amicable terms.
You wouldn’t have guessed that, judging by the incident that led to their split, over a year ago. The couple announced they were separating in December 2016, but the incident that was, probably, the final straw, occurred in May, that same year.
“We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution”, they told People.
On May 23, police was called to the family property in Chino Hills State Park Main Ridge Trail, at about 4 in the afternoon. A neighbor who had spoken to the officers said that Christina El Moussa “crying and shaking” as she was asking him to call 911, because her husband “took a handgun, put it in his backpack and ran outside “.
Tarek El Moussa was found on the hiking trail, by a police helicopter. He did have a gun. He followed the instruction received via the PA speaker and was taken into custody. Even though “upset” at Christina – he ignored her – he was “compliant” and cooperative with the police.
No clear explanation of the incident came from the couple in December 2016, when announcing they had parted ways. “Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage”, they said. But they did mention that in May, they had already been separated for little while.
Tarek El Moussa filed for divorce in January of last year, citing ïrreconcilable differences” and seeking spousal support.
Taker and Christina El Moussa have two children together: 7-year-old daughter Taylor and 2-year-old son Brayden.
