NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is back in rehab after his recent DUI arrest in Newport Beach. The 56-year-old was jailed overnight.

Rodman was arrested last weekend, on January 13, in Newport Beach, for traffic violation. When the police officer administered the standard breathalyzer test, is was clear that the former basketball player was under the influence. He was taken to the station and detained for several hours, until he sobered up.

Soon after his release, Rodman’s spokesperson told the press that he would be seriously advised to check into a new rehabilitation facility.

“Alcoholism has been a struggle on and off for Dennis the past 15 years”, his representative admitted to TMZ openly, before mentioning his intent to talk the NBA star into getting help.

It seems that those were not just words, as Dennis Rodman is now back into a rehab program. “Dennis decided it was time to get help for his issue with alcohol and finally get to the underlying root before it’s too late”, his rep told People, adding that Rodman’s decision has been met positively and that all he needs at the time being, from anyone, is “prayers and support”.

In July 2016, Rodman left the scene of an accident that he was involved in, in Southern California. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and providing the police with false information.

In 2004, he was arrested for a DUI in Las Vegas and fined $1,000. He was also put on house arrest for 30 days.

His earliest DUI arrest was, however, in 1999. At the time he faced charges of driving under the influence and driving without a valid license. He pleaded guilty to both accusations and was sentenced to pay a $2000 fine and to follow a 90-days rehab program.
