The Los Angeles DA rejected the sexual battery case against Seal for a number of reasons, including lack of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
Seal will not be dragged further into the sexual battery case that has been filed with the District Attorney last month. The DA rejected the case due to lack of evidence and/ or witnesses beyond a reasonable doubt and the statute of limitations.
The charges were filed in January 2018 by a neighbor, who claimed the assault took place back in 2016. The woman is actress Tracey Birdsall. She told TMZ that less than two years ago, she went to the singer’s house to return a salad spinner. The 54-year-old musician, however, had other intentions and groped her breasts, forcing himself on her, kissing her. When she asked him “What are you doing!?”, shocked by his behavior, he answered: “I’m kissing you!”
Still in shock, she agreed to have a seat on the couch next to him. He proceeded to grope her. That is when she got up and left, never to return to him home, or have any contact with him.
Birdsall said that prior to the incident, they had developed a deep friendship.
Seal’s representative has denied the accusations from the beginning, telling the press that Seal intended “to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations”.
In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein stories, Seal lashed out at Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, criticizing her for hypocrisy, as he was sharing a photo of her giving Weinstein a kiss on the cheek and then going against him and proliferating the #MeToo movement. He later stressed about clarifying that his words wrongly interpreted and that, in reality, had “enormous respect” for the television icon.
Birdsall said that it was his accusations against Oprah that made her come out.
