She is the new Carrie Bradshaw!

“Sex and the City” fans, meet the new Carrie Bradshaw! She is Anna Sophia Robb, she is 18 years old and will star in “The Carrie Diaries” as a young version of the beloved character Carrie, played so far by Sarah Jessica Parker. Iconic Sarah Jessica Parker will not be playing Carrie Bradshaw anymore. After a TV series of 6 seasons and 94 episodes, and after two “Sex and the City” movies, the romantic journalist wearing Manolo Blahnik and marrying her long-time filthy-rich beau won’t be sharing her day-to-day life adventures anymore. Instead, producers Miguel Arteta, Candace Bushnell (who is also the writer), Len Goldstein, Amy Harirs, Stephane Savage and Josh Schwartz have thought that it would be interesting for fans to get to know some things about Carrie’s past. “The Carrie Diaries” depicts Carrie in her senior Year of high school, in the 1980s. It’s the time when she is asking herself the first questions about relationships, love and how things work. She is still (or should we say “already”) a fashion addict and is given a hard time by the popular girl at school, Donna LaDonna. Anna Sophia Robb made her acting debut in 2004, with a role in an episode of the TV series “Drake & Josh”. Her most notable appearances so far were in “Because of Winn-Dixie”, 2005, (as Opal) and in “Charlie and the...

Teenager’s death blamed on hoodie

The death of teenager Trayvon Martin was linked to his looks by Geraldo Riveira, who blamed the boy’s hoodie for the tragic incident. On “Fox and Friends” Rivera said that the man who shot Martin has mistaken him for an assaulter because of his hoodie. On Friday, attorney & journalist Geraldo Rivera said, on “Fox and Friends”, that he believes wearing a hoodie can attract violent behavior. It was the case of Trayton Martin, a teenager who was shot by the neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, on February 26. The 28-year-old man says that he perceived the anonymous looking individual as threatening and shot the gun in self-defense. The police found no evidence that said otherwise, so they did not arrest him. The lack or arrests as well as the hoodie explanation triggered waves of protests on Wednesday. Hundreds of people have marched under the “Million Hoodie March” in New York. Most of them were wearing hoodies. Their protest aims to bring Zimmerman in court. On the set of “Fox and Friends” Rev Jesse Jackson preferred not to “dignify” Geraldo Rivera’s explanation, saying: “[George Zimmerman’s] lack of appearance in the court system is a source of embarrassment and humiliation. He needs to face the court.”...

The Lorax is still number one

After its surprise debut, with earnings of over $70,2 million in its first weekend, The Lorax maintains the number one spot at the box office taking in $38,8 million on its second weekend. Even thought its second weekend brought a decrease in earnings, it is up to now this years top-grossing film with a total of over $125,1 million (as of Mar 12, 2012). Joshua Weinstein (Reuters) says that Universal managed this performance because of right timing (with a current lack of family movies), excellent marketing (with over 70 promotional partners) and the spring-like orange-and-yellow theme introduced at a time when people are sick and tired of winter. The Lorax is a modern adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Lorax: “The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for a real Truffula Tree, the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To get it he must find the story of the Lorax, the acerbic yet charming character who fights to protect this world.” (theloraxmovie.com) If you haven’t seen it yet, we recommend you check it...
