“Thailand’s Got Talent” nude contestant conflict

A contestant participating on “Thailand’s got Talent” stirs conflicts after she took her shirt off and painted a canvas with her own body. Thailand’s culture Minister was outraged by the performance, stating that nudity on national television is highly inappropriate.     There is a very fine line between art and inappropriate manifestation of creativity. In a particular case on the show “Thailand’s Got talent”, airing on Sunday, this line became even more blurred. One contestant, a 23-year-old female artist, had an odd talent to show to the judges. After introducing herself politely, she turned around, took off her top and started painting a white canvas with her breasts. Her original painting manner stirred up debates. Thailand’s Culture Minister, Sukumol Kunplome, argued that nudity is far from being accepted on TV, as the Thai society does not consider it appropriate. The contestant received a negative vote from a female judge, but two positive from two male judges, thus making her qualified to present a new artistic nude show on the next...

Charlie Sheen’s “Anger Management” sets record

Despite being seen as a risky chance at first, “Anger Management”, starring Charlie Sheen sets an awaiting audience record. And not only: international buyers and advertisers, such as Fiat, are lining up to be a part of the grand success. After being fired from “Two and a Half Men” about a year and a half ago, Charlie Sheen’s “stocks” dropped dramatically. He was viewed as a lost cause and his future in television was thought to be compromised. Despite the negative vibe around him, FX and Lionsgate were ready to reinvent him and bet it would work. So Charlie, who, for years, embodied the famous playboy Charlie Harper, was offered the main role in an upcoming series, called “Anger Management”.     FX did not share details regarding the sitcom’s success, but rumor has it that “Anger Management” has the highest CPM rates that the network has ever seen. Fox Cable Entertainment’s executive vp ad sales Bruce Lefkowitz says that “the fact that advertisers found a way to create budgets to support the show speaks to the optimism and excitement in the market.” “Anger Management” is, up to one point, based on the movie with the same title, starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, which hit theaters in 2003. The series premieres on June 28. Check out the trailer below:  ...

New “Dallas” series, premiering in June

Big surprise for the soap opera nostalgics – “Dallas” is back on the air, with a new series, featuring new actors, but also some of the most iconic faces in the original series: J.R. played by Larry Hagman, Bobby, played by Patrick Duffy and Sue Ellen, played by Linda Gray. The new series is premiering in June. The original actors of the “Dallas” soap opera are regrouping for a new series. The Ewing family, represented by J.R., his brother, Bobby, his wife, Sue Ellen and the family’s nemesis, Cliff Barnes, are all played by the original actors. Larry Hagman, who is now 80, played the main character in the series, J.R. Ewing, who, unlike other main characters, is the black sheep of the clan and for good reason. “Everybody has a jerk like J.R. in the family”, says Hagman. J.R.’s younger brother, “the good guy”, is played by Patrick Duffy, now 63. In his opinion, the only reason they show is being done now is that “they can get J. R. back on the air”, a character that is “as iconic as the ranch itself.” The reason that Linda Gray, 71, the actress that comes back as Sue Ellen, believes the series was so successful because of the fact that the actors brought experiences from their own lives on the screen. In Sue Ellen/ Linda’s case, there was the...

“Men in Black 3”, No. 1 at the box office

No.1 spot at the box office is taken over by “Men in Black 3”. The movie lands at the top of the list pushing “The Avengers” down one spot. Here come the Men in Black! For the third time! Over the Memorial Day weekend, “Men in Black 3” debuted as the No.1, cashing in 55 million dollars domestically in just three days [from Friday to Sunday]. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back in business again, even though, well…agent K (Tommy) is now younger than Agent J (Will). Even if the time travel invention is a crucial part of this movie, the characters don’t seem to pay too much attention to the invention itself. After all, time travel represents only the means to an end, which is destroying a villain. Funny, heroic and heartbreaking at the end, MIB 3 took over the lead at the box office. This puts “The Avengers” in second, with earnings totaling 37 million over the same three days. “Battleship” came in third, with domestic earnings of 44.3 million dollars, while on fourth place landed “The Dictator” earned 9.6 million. There is the complete top 5 1. “Men in Black 3” – $ 55 million 2. “The Avengers” – $ 37 million 3. “Battleship” – $ 10.8 million 4. “The Dictator” – $ 9.6 million 5. “Chernobyl Diaries” – $8 million...
